Testing laboratory

The testing laboratory in the manufacturing plant Liberec OLEO CHEMICAL, a.s. has been working since the Autumn of 2008.

The long-term and priority goal of the testing laboratory is to guarantee and raise the high quality of the analyses that are carried out. The outcome of this effort was to get a certificate of accreditation according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025 by the Czech Institute for Accreditation o. p. s. in Prague.

The testing laboratory was granted its first certificate of accreditation in 2010, based on the evaluation of the fulfilment of accreditation criteria according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025; the testing laboratory received no. 1581 and accreditation marks.

The accreditation according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025 is an official recognition of the testing laboratory being qualified to perform the defined activities (testing and samplings stated in the appendix to the certificate of accreditation) objectively and independently.

Our goal is to provide unbiased and highly objective testing results.

With the accreditation, the testing laboratory commits itself (beyond others) to fulfil the requirements of an accreditation authority.

In order to guarantee high-quality work, the testing laboratory takes part on inter-laboratory comparative examinations (within Czech Republic and on international level, too).

Menu of laboratory services 

The testing laboratory is equipped with modern equipment and technical support that completely allow carrying out analyses according to the present standard requirements.

The testing laboratory nowadays serves to the needs of the manufacturing plant. But it is ready to offer its services of analyses and samplings to external customers as well.

The main content of the work in the testing laboratory are initial analyses of material samples (fat, methanol) that are given for manufacturing, inter-operating analyses of samples from different manufacturing phases FAME, final analytic checking of final product samples – FAME, including sampling of initial material, samples from manufacturing and samples of final products.

The testing laboratory also performs analyses of glycerine aqua, glycerine phase and other analyses according to the requests of the manufacturing plant; it deals with initial material testing.

The objects of the accreditation are analyses of material samples (fat, methanol) provided for the FAME production (fatty acid methyl esters), of final product samples (FAME) and solvent samples and sampling of initial materials and final products.

Accredited testing:

  • Determination of the content of free and total glycerine and mono-, di- and triglycerides by the method of GC/FID (FAME)
  • Determination of the methanol content by the method of GC/FID/Headspace (FAME) 
  • Determination of the methanol content by the method of GC/FID/SPME (FAME)
  • Determination of the content of ester and methyl ester of linoleic acid by the method of GC/FID (FAME)
  • Determination of calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus and sulphur content by the method of ICP (fats, FAME)
  • Determination of iodine number by the method of potentiometric titration (fats, FAME) 
  • Determination of acid value by the method of potentiometric titration (fats, FAME) 
  • Determination of density and kinematic viscosity with the help of viscometer SVM 3000/G2 (fats, FAME)
  • Determination of aqua content by a coulometric titration according to Karl Fischer (fats, FAME, organic solvents) 
  • Determination of oxidation stability by an automatic machine PetroOxy (fastened oxidation test) (FAME) 
  • Determination of filterability by the automatic machine for filterability determination (FAME) 
  • Determination of the impurities in central distillates and fats by the gravimetric method (fats, FAME) 
  • Sampling by manual method (fats, methanol, FAME)

Testing beyond the accreditation:

  • Determination of the glycerine content by a titration (GP)
  • Determination of the methanol content by the method of GC/FID/Headspace (GP,GW) 
  • Determination of the methanol content by the method of GC/FID/SPME (GP,GW)
  • Determination of the density with the help of viscometer SVM 3000/G2 (GP, GW)
  • Determination of aqua content by a coulometric titration according to Karl Fischer (GP)
  • Determination of the fat phase by the gravimetric method (GP, wastewater)
  • Determination of the pH by a potentiometry (aqua, springing water, GP, GW)
  • Determination of the electrical conductivity (aqua, springing water)
  • Determination of the hardness (sum of calcium and magnesium) by a titration (aqua, springing water)
  • Determination of soaps by a titration (fats, FAME, GP)

Other activities:

  • Testing of initial materials for the manufacturing of FAME

The testing laboratory treats all the examinations without any difference.
